"For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty." -The Apostle Peter (2 Peter 1:16)

Calvinism, Reformed Theology.jpg

While we would not classify Calvinism in the same class as the false religions we address on this website (e.g., Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses), we believe Calvinists have unknowingly made some theological errors. Below are a few resources—all offered in a spirit of love for our Calvinist brothers—that will help you see where they have erred.

NEW! WHY I AM NOT A CALVINIST (DVD & MP3 Lecture Set)
What is Calvinism? Is Calvinism Biblical? Do people have free will? Did Jesus die for the sins of the whole world or just the elect? When it comes to salvation, do people have a choice or does God foreordain some to be saved and others to be lost? Dr. Norman Geisler, author of Chosen But Free, answers these questions and many others in this two disc set. The first disc is a DVD of a recorded teaching given at Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on Calvinism titled “Why I am Not a Five Point Calvinist.” Disc two is a CD that contains a more in-depth three part teaching on this topic in mp3 format. CHOSEN BUT FREE: A Balanced View of Divine Election

For too long there has only been argument. Divine election, however, is not just a theological debate without implications or answers. Instead, according to Dr. Geisler, it is a foundational tenet of faith that affects how you view ministry, pursue the unsaved, pray, and even how you understand the very nature of God himself. At the heart of his new book, Chosen But Free, Dr. Geisler explores both the dangers implicit in ascribing to extreme views on either side of the doctrinal coin as well as the blessings and freedoms tacit to a unified understanding of this theological question. He explores the convictions of extreme Calvinism and extreme Arminianism and suggests contradictions and biblically unfounded ideas that each of the sides must hold in order to justify their views. He then argues for a moderate position to the theological question, affirming the sovereignty of God and His foreknowledge along with the human responsibility to choose or reject God's offer of salvation.

For too long the common belief has been held that God's sovereignty and human free will were mutually exclusive. By challenging your preconceived notions on divine election, you can move to a fuller understanding of God's plan for His people and be touched by the response to His offering of love and grace.

Ideal for individual use or a challenging study with church leaders or other pastors, Chosen But Free is another compelling and important book from this widely respected theologian and pastor. Dr. Geisler has written what will become the definitive work on divine election for you as a scholar, theologian, or pastor seeking reconciliation of this debate. THE FIVE POINTS OF CALVINISM: Weighed and Found Wanting

Have you been confused by the five points of Calvinism (Total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irresistible grace, Perseverance of the saints)? Are you wondering if the teachings of Calvinism are truly in harmony with the Bible? If so, this book will be of great help to you. In this book George Bryson holds up the five points of Calvinism and carefully compares them with God's Word, showing very clearly where Calvinism departs from Scripture. Does he represent Calvinism accurately? Douglas Wilson, an ardent Calvinist, believes he does:

“George Bryson is a very unusual non-Calvinist. He is able to describe the doctrinal position of Calvinism without putting any extra eggs in the pudding. His descriptions are fair and accurate, and he clearly knows his subject. The first portion of the book, the place where he does all this, is very good.” –Douglas Wilson, Reformed Professor at New St. Andrews College
