Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of South Asia near the end of the fifteenth century. Its founder, Guru Nanak, taught devotion to one God and was followed by nine additional human Gurus who helped shape the Sikh faith and community. Sikhs today look to their sacred scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, as their authoritative and eternal Guru.
Sikhism emphasizes devotion to God, truthful living, equality among people, selfless service to others, and remembrance of God. Sikhs reject idolatry and believe there is one supreme God who transcends religious divisions. Sikh teaching also includes belief in karma and reincarnation, with the ultimate spiritual goal of liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth and union with God. Many observant Sikhs are readily recognized by articles of faith such as uncut hair and the turban, which reflect commitment to their religious identity.
There are certainly aspects of Sikh teaching that Christians can appreciate, including its emphasis on one God, human equality, generosity, service, and care for others. At the same time, Sikhism and Christianity differ profoundly on some of the most important spiritual questions imaginable.
Who is God, and how can we truly know Him? What is humanity’s greatest spiritual problem? Do we pass through repeated lives governed by karma, or do we live once and then face judgment? Can devotion, good works, and spiritual discipline ultimately reconcile us to God? Who is Jesus Christ—one respected religious figure among others, or God the Son and mankind’s only Savior? And are the teachings of the world’s religions ultimately different expressions of the same spiritual truth?
The Bible teaches that there is one personal Creator who made us and loves us, but that our sin has separated us from Him. Our greatest need is therefore not liberation from a cycle of reincarnation, but forgiveness and reconciliation with God. And that is something we cannot earn through good deeds, religious devotion, or spiritual discipline. God has provided salvation as a gift of His grace through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the grave (Ephesians 2:8–9; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

• “The God of the Old Testament commanded the Israelites to commit genocide!”
• “The Bible condones slavery! Only evil, selfish men would concoct a book like that!”

EVOLUTION—Following the Evidence: Fossils, DNA, and the Question of Origins
Where did we come from? For more than 150 years, the theory of Darwinian evolution has been presented as the scientific explanation for the origin and diversity of life. From school textbooks to nature documentaries, it is often described as settled science. But is it? In this clear and engaging investigation, Charlie Campbell examines some of the most important lines of evidence related to origins—fossils, DNA, biological complexity, natural selection, and human uniqueness—and asks a simple but profound question: What best explains what we actually observe? Rather than asking readers to ignore science, this book invites them to look more closely at it. Along the way, it explores whether the evidence more naturally fits an unguided evolutionary process, or the idea of intentional design by a Creator. Each chapter is written in an accessible, step-by-step style, helping readers follow the reasoning without requiring a scientific background. The goal is not confusion or controversy, but clarity. Whether you are a committed Christian, a skeptic, or simply curious, this book encourages you to think carefully about one of life’s biggest questions—and to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
